This is what I got, trying to photographed bird without telephoto lenses, (ha..ha! do you see the flying bird?)
Mount Kinabalu (the highest peak in South East Asia) at the background.
The plant at the middle foreground is The Giant/King Fern (Angiopteris evecta) - the largest fern on earth!

Top Rank Bird Photography during Sultan's Birthday Holiday

Yesterday was holiday in the state of Pahang here - Sultan Birthday on 24 th October, so I took the opportunity for bird photography at a new location - an outdoor camp site called Top Rank. This camp located about 10 km to the north of Raub Town. School children usually use this site for camping and their extracurricular activities.

Located near the secondary jungle and small lake. Opposite the camp is a large Dragon Fruits (sweet pitayas) farm.

I was surprised to find so many birds here, so I managed to photographed three LIFER today
There are 19 birds perched at this dead tree.

My first time seeing so many Black-headed Bulbul (Pycnonotus atriceps), perched at a dead tree and at the "Cenderai" tree (Microcos tomentosa) eating the fruits.

This Eagle and KingFisher sharing the tree for a rest, and looking for a prey.

My LIFER #1; Crested Serpent-Eagle (Spilornis cheela) Helang Kuik, soaring and searching for prey (below)

Here LIFER #2; Slaty-breasted Rail (Rallus striatus) Burung Sintar, at the edge of the lake.
Very jittery and run away before I could focused my camera properly.
Edit: Smathi Chong send my an e-mail, this could be a Barred buttonquail (Turnix suscitator).
I don't have any good picture to show, so I'm not sure about the ID now.

Common Iora is always my favourite bird

There are only two yellow birds species here at my backyard;- The Black-naped Oriole and Common Iora. I like this Iora the most, because of its small and cute in size (just 15cm compare to black-naped Oriole 27cm), foraging very near my back door and very challenging to photograph for its constantly on the move. The juvenile feather is so fluffy and adorable. I have been posting this same species for 20 entry in this blog. That is why Common Iora features very prominently at my blog's Header above.This picture was photographed full framed, ie. no croped and very minimal post-processing done (just 5% increased in colour saturation + the black/gray frame).
It perched about 3-4 meters from my camera, the minimal focusing distance for my 400mm f5.6 L telephoto lenses.

I just click the shutter release button when this Asian Glossy Starling jumped from that tree stub. What an eerily look eyes!

Skywatch Friday Forest at Raub Malaysia - my # 6

This leafless trees are part of the forest at a slope of the hill, situated about 1 km to the west of my house.
Actually there are leaves at those trees if you look closely (click on the picure for large image)

Egret sp Flock Flying over the Forest

For the last two weeks, I have seen the flock of Egret flying over Raub.
Usually four to ten birds in the flock. So far it not yet landed at my backyard.

This landing Little Egret was photographed in March this year.

Little Egret is resident migrant in Malaysia. Migrant population add the number of this bird, so that why I can it at my backyard now.

Black-napped Oriole flying and the Moon an Art Experimentation

I tried to create the flying bird with the moon at the background, like my eagle picture that I shot at Kemasik Terengganu last month. This is my experimentation with superimposed image

I noticed the blue dots Butterfly flying slowly in front of my house during lunch break.
It rested of the small three, than at the shoes cupboard. Finally it landed on my son's canvas shoes with the wings spread open. I search for the ID; Great Eggfly, also called Blue Moon Butterfly.

Scientific name: (Hypolimnas bolina jacintha).
