Focusing Test with Yellow-vented Bulbul

Testing my new camera with this very common backyard bird - Yellow-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus goiavier).
With 400mm f5.6 lenses + taped 1.4X TeleConverter (Tamron SP), the camera's center AF point is useless (hunt endlessly), but the peripheral focusing points are still useable.
My old 400D can handle this situation much better.

Hi Tabib, If I were you I wouldn't worry too much on the AF. There was a branch in front of your subject. I think that was why the bulbul was out of focus. The branch looked like in perfect focus.

I'm no expert but maybe by changing the af point will help or overide the focusing manually from the lens.

The 2nd pic is tac sharp and the colors are great! I hv the feeling you are using 50D (Congrates!!!) and looking forward to see more action shots from you.

Regards.

The bulbul looks beautiful in contrast to the vegetation and background. I like it a lot.
