Since the Old Teak Tree has been chopped down by my neighbor, electric cable and lamp post are my target practice for bird photo at my backyard.

Colmar Tropicale at Bukit Tinggi - SkyWatch Friday

I went to Bukit Tinggi, Pahang - with the intention of shooting the Montana birds there. That place is well know for Broadbill species, beautiful bright colour bird with comical face. Rain prevents me from even taking out my camera, so with an umbrella we are just exploring the area and get to know the area at the Botanical Garden. Breeding season will be in February and march, so I'll already mark my calender for repeat visit there.
The resort there is in festive Chinese New Holiday mood with red colour every where. I just contented with this non-nature photography, and no blue sky this time.

This Juvenile Fan Tail (Rhipidura javanica) in the act of preening her wings. Birds preen to groom, waterproofs, clean and conditions the feathers.

Gerhana Matahari - Solar eclipse at Raub, Malaysia

Hot out of my CF card. Partial Solar Eclipsed just occurred over Malaysia started at 4.30pm and finally contact around 6.55pm today. I just back from work and hurriedly took this pic at 6.23pm.
I used an X-Ray film and my son to pull the dark part of the film over the front end of 400mm telephoto lenses. This partially hidden sun look like a crescent moon.
Very cloudy day and the sun was hidden most of the eclipsed time.

Insects at Banana Flower

This banana flower host for at least four types of insect, but I only know one species name;
Polistes sagittarius, that biggest flying insect here.

Wild Orchid at Raub's Hill

This Wild Orchid grows on the big tree in from of Raub's District Officer's house. I took this photograph on new year holiday. I don't have any orchids or flower reference book, and searching the internet didn't give me any clue to the name of this species.
