Burung But-but Kecil - Lesser Coucal

My last Sunday Lifer at open grassland that bordering the Raub Golf Course

Lesser Coucal (Centropus bengalensis)
Lesser Coucal (Centropus bengalensis)Lesser Coucal (Centropus bengalensis)

Much better picture with clear perched this Monday morning.
Medium size bird, about 38cm
This is assuming breeding plumage adult, nape and upper back with pale buff streaking.
I noticed this bird didn't immediately swallow the meal, but just keep that green grasshopper at its beak for a long time. Maybe keeping that for courtship ritual of offering each other titbits like a leaf or grasshopper. Maybe this food is for her chicks?
I have seen the pair two days ago, but didn't managed to photograph it.

It looks like he has pin feathers coming in in. Is this the way he usually looks or is he going through a serious mold?

Great, really great behavioral shot Tabib. Love the background on it too. It's feathers give it an armor look from a distance.

Beautiful shot indeed. Sad to say, some local medicine-man used this bird as an ingredient for ailment of fractures, and thats why the numbers are decreasing now.
