Tukang Rumah Pemalas

For the past 1 week, this Large-tail Nightjar always perches on that old metal about 10 minutes after Maghrib.
My 4th attempt to get the right shots. Problems to get accurate focus at night, to get the exposure/flash right, and to hide from the bird.
This time I pre-focused and set up a camera/tripod about 5 meters from the metal frame.
With manual metering and Phottix Cleon Wireless Remote control shutter release. I fired a few shots when the bird land

Birding at Puncak Inn Fraser's Hill

I seldom stay overnight on Fraser's Hill for birding.  However, last weekend I checked in at the Puncak Inn because I didn't feel like driving up too early from my house. Arrived there at 7.30pm, and that budget hotel was fully booked, so I got the room at the top (4th floor). The staircase is straight up and very steep, good for knee exercise!.

Short birding in front of the hotel before check out, and got these two species. This Black-throated Sunbird flew in at a bottle brush flower looking for nectar.

Thank you to Soon Yin Tee from Facebook's My Nice Garden Chat group for the plant/flower ID.

Sultan not coming to Fraser's Hill

Sultan Tit Birds
My objective for today's birding is to find the Sultan Tit. Skip my weekly long-distance cycling trip because of this. Neglected this birding hobby for a long time, last went to Fraser's Hill in August 2011. After 2 hours of waiting in front of Jelai Resort, not even a glimpse of Sultan to be seen....here the usual regular resident.
