Blue-crowned Hanging Parrot - Serindit
Blue-crowned hanging parrots mainly eat fruits, nectar, buds, flowers, seeds, and occasionally small insects.
This is a male species, picture by themonnie. I think this bird must be in captivity, so sharp with only the normal lens (50mm at f2.2) used.
We just have a looked at a pet shop a few days ago.
Actually my sons (and daughter), wanted to keep this species as a pet. Firdaus like this "Si-Gebu" very much. Alas, their mother would not allow it. She is afraid of that little hamster, actually not afraid but 'geli' (tickled) on seeing that thick fur thingy.
Blue-crowned Hanging Parrot - Serindit
My late grandfather used to keep the serindit as a pet. He reared it in a rolling cage. The serindit will walk the wall and the cage will roll at the axis. I remembered the beak was yellow in colour ~ maybe a juvenile species.
