2013 Migrant Birds at My Backyard

Finally, migrant birds perched in my backyard. Not a lifer, but Brown Shrike and Little Egret

Little Egret is a resident migrant bird in Malaysia, but I don't see it here (Raub)  in other months except in the winter. Its habitat is the mangroves and freshwater wetlands

Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) - perched on a coconut pinnate and a banana leaf. Easily identified with dark-colored bills, black legs, and yellow feet.
Bangau Oh Bangau!

Other than the two birds above, all the birds pictured below are common backyards.
Please look below what are they:  :)

Bird and Grasshopper

I didn't realized that this male Brown-throated Sunbird was targeting that short-horn Grasshopper until the image was upload in the computer.

I few minutes later I spotted this Eurasian Tree Sparrow (Passer montanus malaccensis) with its catch of green grasshopper.

Duck - Khaki Campbell

The current hot topic at NaturePixels bird forum now is about rare winter migrant - the Masked Finfoot. I got this 'rare' visitor in my front yard.

This duck somehow lost or trapped in between my front yard's fence and the monsoon drain.
None of my neighbors own the duck, so this bird must be from further up and probably carried away by river water the night before.
It is not a wild duck because it looks tame and didn't fly when I approached with a camera.
I tried to get the species name of this duck, can't find the specific feather pattern. I closest that I get is Khaki Campbell, probably juvenile judging from incompleted feathers of the wings.

The picture above was taken at 8:34am under very low morning lighting.
The duck was still there until 7.00pm, and the picture below was taken at 3.11pm.

Not the best exposure here. The above white at the neck and yellow at the vegetation is over exposed.

Injured Lizard

I found this injured Common House Lizard (Hemidactylus frenatus), at my car park.
There were two wounds near the neck, probably inflicted by my neighbour's cat. The tail is missing; the lizard drops its tail as a defence mechanism from attack. I tried to nurse it with a local antiseptic, but it ran away.
Didn't know who was the culprit from the list below;
1. Orange Cat
2. Black & White Cat or
3. Vagabond dirty Cat
