Peak breeding season and Long-Tail Broadbill

I always wanted to see this Elvis Presley bird since birding 12 yrs ago.
Lack of time and busy with other commitment, I forgot to go up for birding. The last I visited Fraser Hill for birding was in Jan 2013. Link==.>   HERE
That hill station is in the Raub district, about one hour drive from my house, and I regularly go up there, cycling and hiking on the Pine Hill trail. Link==.>. HERE
Then I saw MikeBirder posting in his blog about breeding season and long-tail broadbill making its nest. Link ==>>.HERE
When Mike saw it in the middle of April, the pair were busy building the  nest.
One month later, busy feeding the chick. The parents will fly into the nest in about 20 minutes intervals.
Ten photographers with big bazooka lenses waiting at the roadside about 50 feets from the nest.
When the bird arrives with insect, tap-tap-tap  spontaneous rattling machine gun like  noise from the camera.
Within seconds the parent flies away, and everybody chiming at their camera's LCD screen.

Look at Elvis's hair style and thick sideburns, and compare to broadbill face. Similar?

 Long-Tail Broadbill nest (below), hanging precariously on old rattan leaves, over hill slope /  river.

That a prefect site as rattan's sharp spines deter the predator.

Other birds that I manage to catch

While waiting for boadbill, we see this barbet  perch on a vine looking for fruit.

Location: Japanese Garden, Bukit Tinggi, Pahang.

Where Have All The Silver Male Gone?

Silver-breasted Broadbill (Serilophus lunatus rothschildi) - female.

I have only seen the female species with silver necklace when I was at Bukit Tinggi 2 weeks ago. Where have  all those male gone?.
Maybe I didn't look hard enough, and focused more on the Blue bird.

Location: Japanese Garden, Bukit Tinggi, Pahang.

Except for Dusky Broadbill, they are brightly coloured birds with large broad bill and wide gape.
The Malaysia Peninsula has seven species, and I only see three so far:-

1. Silver-breasted Broadbill, 2. Dusky Broadbill ,3. Black-and-red Broadbill

four more to go;
4. Banded Broadbill, 5. Black-and-yellow Broadbill, 6. Green Broadbill and 7. Long-tailed Broadbill

Another Bukit Rengit Birds

This Pied Hornbill greet me at 7:07am with his loud "keng-keng" sound, at the access road to Bukit Rengit.
He doesn't mind, I stopped my car, and slowly set my camera gear. The weather was still dark with slight drizzling, so I had to push the ISO to 3200 (my first time using such a high ISO)

Banded Woodpecker (Picus miniaceus), doing it usual 'tok-tok' jab.

Dusky Broadbill (Corydon sumatranus), tried to hide from me.
Caught a pair very high up on the tree top.

Greater Racquet-tailed Drongo (Dicrurus paradiseus), proud sang on top of leafless tree.

Juvenile Black-and-red Broadbill

I found this bird at TopRank Camping site near Raub. I have never seen this and still not sure about the ID.
Looks like Banded Broadbill (with a few stripes of yellow on its wing, but the eyes are different from the pictures that I found online, (no yellow-blue ring). I have only front view of this bird.
Anybody can confirm the ID?

? Fledgling Female Banded Broadbill (Eurylaimus javanicus)

Most probably Juvenile Black-and-red Broadbill (Cymbirhynchus macrochynchus) - I think the eyes are key to the ID of this bird. In Banded Broadbill, its has yellow/bluish eye ring, but non in Black-and-red Broadbill and Dusky Broadbill.

Silver-breasted Broadbill - Bird Icon of Bukit Tinggi, Pahang

Finally, I got my dream bird captured digitally, after failed attempted during the last Chinese New Year because of rain.
This morning the weather was perfect for bird photography. That place was very quiet with only me and Adrian Lim a.k.a. wmw998 (expert bird photographer from K. Lumpur) .
If Silver-eared Mesia is the bird icon of Fraser's Hill, this Silver-breasted Broadbill surely an icon for Bukit Tinggi.

There are so many of this bird at the Botanical Garden area. Not afraid of human during this breeding season. I was in a hurry for Friday Prayer, so I didn't have a time to find their nest.
This bird landed about 3 meters from my head, on a wooden beam of a nursery house there, the full frame photo with a very little crop.
Tomorrow I will show another Lifer that I got there.
