I went to Fraser's Hill with my birding kaki (Firdaus -my son), to see what going on at that Hill Station.
The
International Bird Race , was going on since yesterday (21 - 22 Jun 2008).
I didn't participate but just going around looking for birds and hopefully can photograph it.
We arrived at 7.30am and went straight to Telecom Loop for birding

then ventured into Abu Suradi Trail, and this was what we got.
? "Lelabi" ? "Kura-kura"- Tortoise had a difficult time climbing the slope at the wet trail.

and this small "mengkarung".

This is my highlight of the day, I got it at the trail near the Jelai Resort.
Lesser Racquet-tailed Drongo (
Dicrurus remifer)
[Cecawi Gunung].
and here out of focus
Scarlet Grey-chin Minivet (
Pericrocotus flammeus)

also out of focus the famous Mesia - Emblem of Fraser's Hill.
Silver-eared Mesia (
Leiothrix argentauris)
This mesia emblem/badge, I bought from MNS (Malaysia Nature Society) exhibition booth. Only RM 6.00 for members.

Long-tailed Sibia (
Heterophasia picaoides)

out of focus spider hunter -
Streaked Spiderhunter (
Arachnothera magna)

The swallow - Pacific Swallow (
Hirundo tahitica)
Perched at a steel railing in front of Faser's golf course.

wild fruits

with matching flowers (not the same species as the fruits above).

a glimpse of blurry bird -
Fire-tufted Barbet
(Psilopogon pyrolophus)

and finally the
unknown bird (what is the bird ID?) - Edit (May 2010): Mountain Fulvetta.
Rimba Murai Bukit
Edit: revisit this entry after one year, and today (20 June 2009) is another bird race held at Fraser's Hill.
Now I know this bird ID, Mountain Leaf Warbler (Phylloscopus trivirgatus)
Local name: Cekup Daun Gunung
This warbler is yellow in colour unlike that fulvetta.

We didn't wait for the closing ceremony, so tired - with non-stop walking from 7.30 till 11.30am.
We left the hill station at 12.00 am.
The other gap road is still closed, so all have to line-up to use the only road available with the time table, one-way traffic flow (going up - odd numbers, going down -even numbers).
THE END :-)
