Gold-whiskered Barbet - My Favourite Bird at Favourite Perch

Gold-whiskered Barbet - My Favourite Bird at Favourite PerchI have said in my previous posting, that there will be no birding during this fasting month.

If the bird came to you, how can you resist not to grab the camera and fire a few shots.

This is my favorite bird (apart from Iora), perched at the usual dead teak tree while I was waiting to break the fast.

I too liked this barbet a lot during my trip over there.

Its gold front reminds me of our Yellow-fronted Barbet, which is a Sri Lankan endemic.

Wow, Me & my buddies describe a shot like this as "telanjang'! Yes, naked & not a single leaf or branch gets in the way.(which is never easy in bird/wildlife photography of course). Great shot!

That perch, how does it attract those beautiful birds?

Amila;
I saw your post on Friday, 11 January 2008 - backview of Yellow-fronted Barbet - also a beatiful barbet.

Jordan;
That a 'naked bird' because that tree have no cloth to cover it!.

Dr. Rosa;
Thanks for dropping by.
That perch is part of dead teak tree brach just outside my backyard's fence. Ripe banana and papaya fruits attract all kind of birds here.
